How Many Countries Are There In The World

Just how may countries existed in the world? ever thought about it?

Well this answer is not very accurate as the definition of a country is not properly defined.
So many states remain under a debate on whether they should be considered as a country or not.

For this let us define a country properly which will help us identify them more accurately.

A country is a state area or a region which has a total sovereignty and suzerainty over itself and has it's own government, currency and defense.

However some states fulfilling all the above criterion are still not considered countries.

So we will stick to the above definition of a country and as per 2008 statistics there are 192 countries in total including the newly formed states like serbia and greenland.

Here sotland, wales and england are considered to be a part of UK which is a recognized and so are not counted as separate countries here.

Also You need to know

1)Taiwan is not considered a country as china claiming it's simply an administered province.

2)Greenland it is still a part of Denmark and so it is not considered a country, as Denmark still handles all the foreign affairs, security in consultation of home rule government although Greenland voted in favor of increased self-rule in November 2008 and acquired complete responsibility for internal affairs in June 2009.

10 Things That "Could" Happen If Oil Completely Runs Out

The reason why i posted this post is to realize how important oil is in our daily life and i think we have forgotten the gravity of it's consequences if we don't take this seriously

Have you ever thought for a bit what would the life be like if oil ran out tomorrow ?

Well here are a few view things that i could imagine that would happen, and believe me this has made me a lot more inclined towards preserving natural resources and going for alternatives.

I am sure it will make you too.

1)The immediate impact would be on the No transportation. Cars would be completely immobilized and travelling would be next to impossible although there will still be electric modes of transport but will be heavily burdened

2)Fast food era will come to an end and Collective farming would take place, with no transport available the farms will reach the cities The gardens and theme parks will be converted to farm lands
Parking lots will be converted to farm lands People would grow their own food, and strive on a much healthier diet.

3)Skies will be clearer with no emission whatsoever, temperatures would cool. and people would seem to lead a much sober lifestyle

4)There will be heavy burden on electricity and new and effective ways to harness renewable energy sources will be developed. Leading to Electricity Boom as the companies would find a potential market in many new fields of development where ol once dominated that sectors

5)Economy will collapse the free market trade would come to a halt and international currencies will collapse completely and will seize to exist barder system will be used for a while but local currencies will soon emerge as the life slowly starts moving and

6)Long distance travel would reduce significantly and would completely perish as far as airways are concerned

7)Shipping lanes and routes will be more organised and will be used as a way to cover long distances with the help of bio fuels such as bio diesel produced from algae.

8)With Lithium still available electric cars will still be seen but will be only affordable by the rich and soon they would also perish with the decrease in supply of Lithium.

9)Space missions will still be possible as a space shuttle uses no oil(oxygen hydrogen etc)although vehicles needed to-
Transport Shuttle to the pad
Produce Hydrogen
Transport personal
Generate power on the pad
The many aircraft used during a mission.
Getting the astronauts to the spacecraft.
etc...

require oil and so space missions would temporarily halt

10People would abandon old cities and new cities will be constructed more railroads will be established and high speed trains will be given more preference as a quick mode of transport.

After the oil crash :Global Slowdown

With oil reserves depelting and no oil left in sufficient amounts there would be a catastrophic blow on the economy if this crisis come unprepared.

Transportation: This is the first aspect that will recieve a direct and most massive blow because of oil crisis.
All the cars that we drive, all the trucks that we use, all the machines we used to built up building will be rendered useless, life less because of no oil. The motor companies with their sales down will be shutting down or will be working on taking out cars with alternative fuels with watevr resources they have left.
Although there will still be a few cars powered by either electricity or hydrogen and most of them would be prototypes.
however travelling by aire would br totally abandoned the airlines would be stopped and all planes would be grounded.
those big large boeings and airbuses we built will be standing there idle, and world's busiest airports would be the quitest.

Food:Food delivery would ofcourse be not possible so the immediate impact would be feeding on whatever is leftover in the department store or in the storeroom. But most likely it would be growing your own food. The kind of food that we eat would be a more haelthier and fast food era would now come to an end.
People would have already started to abandoned the stores and buildings to migrate to different areas.

Living:Most likely the houses that we live in and the places wont change. But the way of living will change.

Electricity: There will be a significant increase in demand for ekectricity and the question that whether electricity will be able to cope up with the demands with the pressure on it building is uncertain. But even though electricity contributes most in our lives it wont anymore, electricity supply becoming scarce compared to increase in the demand the cost will rise up and it's use will have to be shortened.

Solar :Man will be urged to come up with a solution to harness the solar energy to produce electricity.Newer components will be developed to tap the solar energy more effectively and increase in demand for solar panels would give rise to a new industry

Wind energy:Newer wind energy projects will be under development giving rise to new industry and markets

Farming :All the available space in the city that could be cultivated would be utilized to grow vegetables.
Buildings to gardens.People would eat what they grow.

Plastic reuse:Plastic is so undecomposable that in a hundred years wont decay. So the previously created plastic bags will be dug from the dumps to utilize them again since there is no energy left to produce more plastic nor there is any place to dump them.

Energy efficient ways will be figured out to build new homes cities and older cities will be abandoned.
Skies will be more clearer.

Chinese empty cities - Is China capable of sustaining economic growth

Over the years China has built up a whopping trillion dollar foreign reserves has now aimed at increasing it's GDP growth to 10% anually.

And how is it planning to do this ? It's gonna spend.

With enough financial resources china has got way too freedom to spent and built infrastructure.

China has planned to built cities and infrastructure on the rural areas with the intentions to mordenise it's interior (which is still not developed).

We are all aware about china being the host in the beijing olympics 2008.

Yes, and we also know that china has built 2 most recognizable venues, the “Birds Nest Stadium” and the “Water Cube” expilicitly costing half a billion alone.

Not to mention the expenditures after the games the Chinese had to bear i.e over 9 to 12 million anually

Are Chinese people happy about this

Or are they even allowed to question about this.

The Chinese government is still not transparent about the way they spend the money.

Chinese people on the streets have a very little idea about how much the Olympics would have cost..

These were the points noted out by the Journalism Professor Zhan Jiang on 31 july, 2008 BBC news article.

The very question that arises is that is any country legitimately spends $44 billion on the single event.

The answer is No they can't,

China is ruled by a communist government where there the free speech and media are resticted.

The main reason why china's stimulus spending is that unlike free market economies china is totally export based. It has been keeping it;s currency low in order to encourage it's exports.

the problem here is the Chinese economies has become so dependent on exports that with the decline of exports the surplus goods manufactured remain in stock nobody to buy.The surplus goods that are manufactured cannot be absorbed within the country as there is nobody there to buy them.

Unlike free market economies the y allow their currency to float due to which even if there is an exports decline the country can still be recovered as these goods can be absorbed into their own country.

On the other hand china gains an upper hand since hey are not constrained by the economics of their endeavors. China can build whatever it wants and does not worry about it being even worthwhile or economically viable.

China has been trying to raise its GDP growth to more than 8% in order to sustain job Growth in order to absorb the new influx of work force from it's huge population.

China's built up foreign reserves have freed its hands to achieve a stimulus spending.

The year 2008 saw a major decline in the world economy causing china's biggest customers USA, EU, and Japan to enter in to recession.

The Chinese exports declined by 20% that year resulting in an enormous slowdown in their export-based economy.

The members of the Communist Party of China’s politburo would attend a meeting to deal with this crisis.

The government has created a stimulus measures in order to create a stimulus with the help of state sponsored companies in order to keep the economy from getting stagnated and thus continue to maintain social stability and order.

Along with this the govt. has created an industrial commercial overcapacity and imbalance in the estate market.

Which would begin to go out of control if the stimulus spending continues.

See South china mall

The mall 7 million sq ft retail and entertainment complex finished in 2005.

The estimated cost amounts to $1.3 billion.

The mall is a mixed theme based with a Las Vegas style and Disneyland entertainment on a large scale.

The mall is amazing, but there is a problem.

It’s nearly empty.

The real question which arises is that how long this is going to go on.

For how long will the govt. be spending on it's infrastructure and cities like this

If this policy succeeds i.e. if the economy recovers and the EU and USA and Japan revives from recession and the Chinese exports would shoot up then the economy would be on it's path towards GDP growth

But what if not,

What if it takes more time for the economy to recover than expected, what if the exports dont go up and the world doesn’t demand for the Chinese products any more, then china is up for a big time

Then the stimulus spending would render Chinese into depleting its foreign reserves making its economy weak and stagnant or even negative GDP growth.

In the time of economic crisis the solution is not to stick to your position any way but to try and solve the problem which china has failed to notice. What ever the case may be the Chinese govt. is playing a narrow game

WHEN WILL "DEVELOPING" COUNTRIES BE "DEVELOPED"

The developing countries today are aggressively expanding their fuel consumtion oil consumption mass production of goods that consume electricity and cause pollution as per capita income rises what they dont understand is that their is o point in going in that direction b'coz its a dead end
Resources are limited and oil will run out
so the countries with most oil dependencies will suffer the most
but today the its a belief that if u wanna come up ahead you must excel in all the feilds that exist even if they are scarce

Ok suppose all the developing countries do get to that level of consumerisum suppose every country in the world is developed then what
by the time this happens none will be left for any body to consume or produces
The best way is not to go in that direction at all
Dont increase oil consumption, dont incease production cause it is going to slow down and eventually end as the oil prices rise and oil perishes
If you want to be developed increase the research on non oil sectors like solar electricity biofuels bio diesel and other enviourment friendly areas because if yo want to exist you have to be in line with the nature and not against it
These things have got future thats the new idea of being a developed country
The whole idea of a developed civilization has to change
The developed country is not the one who has the major hold over cars that run on petrol or production that causes pollution it has to be the one which has the least dependency on oil and is totally enviourment friendly the one which produces solar electicity, harnesses wind energy and water energy who progresses in research and development on enviourment friendly sectors
